The Butte skatepark consists of fairly separate transition and street sections. The street section has gotten mixed reviews but I found it pretty fun with a lot of different features. They don’t really flow it much of a line though. The whaleback bank would make for some fun air to fakie tricks and lip tricks as it is rimmed in curved metal coping.
The transitions section has one large bowl that was finshed with pool coping and a bank wall and in an “L” shape. Unfortunately this bowl was filled with about 2 feet of nasty water, some pop cans, and a dead rat when we were there. Hopefully it is fixed soon because it looked pretty fun. The other bowl is a legit pool-style kidney bowl.
From the park don’t forget to head downtown into the old Historic District. At the turn of the century Butte was one of the most thriving cities in the country due to the lucrative mining industry. There’s a lot of history there.
All in all it is a clean new park located in the (somewhat post-apocalyptic) East Side of uptown Butte. Que vive el Auditor..
